The League of Nations The League of Nations ended World War I. It was the first international organization whose principal mission was world peace. The League of Nation's primary goal was to prevent future wars through collective security and disarmament. Years to come, the League of Nations would fail its primary purpose; to prevent future wars. The league lasted 27 years.
The Treaty of Versailles The Treaty of Versailles was a peace settlement signed in 1919 after World War I ended in 1918. The treaty was signed by Germany and the Allied Powers at the Versailles palace near Paris, France. As a result of the treaty, Germany's army was limited to only 100,000 men and was banned upon the use of heavy artillery, gas, tanks and aircrafts. Germany's navy was similarly restricted to shipping under 10,000 tons, and was banned from using submarines.
The Fourteen Points The Fourteen Points were President Wilson's idea. The Fourteen Points literally were fourteen points. The fourteen points were: 1. Open Diplomacy 2. Freedom of the Seas 3. Removal of Economic Barriers 4. Reduction of Armaments 5. Adjustment of Colonial Claims 6. Conquered Territories in Russia 7. Preservation of Belgian sovereignty 8. Restoration of French Territory 9. Redrawing of Italian Frontiers 10. Division of Austria - Hungary 11. Redrawing of Balkan Boundaries 12. Limitations on Turkey 13. Establishment of an Independent Poland 14. Association of Nations The British and French were unhappy with the Fourteen Points but accepted them.
